CHM was founded by Mark V. Smetanin in 2014 — at a moment when short-term rentals in the Caribbean were transitioning from cottage-industry to professional operation, and most local managers in the DR were still running flat-fee retainer models that offered owners predictability without performance.
The starting position was simple: revenue-share only. No flat fees. No setup costs. No surprise charges. We earn when you earn. That structural choice changed every operational decision downstream — pricing got tuned weekly, distribution expanded to 35+ channels, guest messaging stayed responsive 24/7.
